TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF + YOUR BLOG!
In a split nutshell, I’m a creative, colour & homestyle lover, picture taker & aspiring adventurer. LapinBlu is my outlet – a personal & lifestyle blog featuring edits, stories & projects around the broader topics of creativity, home & interior style, family, adventure, & lifestyle. The blog enables me to express & explore my own creative journey, as well as being a platform for sharing the people, places, products, adventures & experiences I discover, and the lessons learnt along the way.
WHAT DO YOU DO OUTSIDE OF THE BLOG?
Mainly being Mama to our 6yr old daughter at the moment. I closed my handmade shop late last year, and am currently exploring what my next direction will be in terms of the business side of things. I love (roller) skating by the sea, exploring the area where we live, and am trying to get our home organised.
WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO START BLOGGING?
I was seeking to find myself after our daughter was born & was in need of a creative outlet. Hugely inspired by Yvestown & WoodWoolStool, I was drawn to learning to crochet at the time, so I taught myself through online tutorials & blogs, which led me to more blogs, which finally inspired me to start my own. It takes time to find your voice & the blog has changed alot from the early days, but, I’ve settled into my groove in the last year or so. I love the friendships, community & experiences blogging has brought with it, and that it pushes me to try new things whilst allowing me to share the subjects I’m passionate about both inside & out of my home & my life.
WHAT MADE YOU CHOOSE A BLOGZILLA STUDIO THEME?
I was looking to refresh LapinBlu, and came across Blogzilla through Molly’s blog. I loved the simplicity & clean, fresh styles of all the themes, and it took me ages to decide which to go for (I chose Mignon)! In the end, the option for installation & bespoke additions at a reasonable cost was the ticket, as it meant I could pick a theme, but the girls would tweak it for me so it felt more like mine – a big factor for a non-tech like myself (stick that on the still to learn list!)
WHAT DO YOU LIKE BEST ABOUT THE LOOK OF YOUR BLOG NOW?
I like the feeling of light & space that means it’s not too overwhelming and allows my images & colours to do the talking.
ANY ADVICE FOR PEOPLE STARTING UP BLOGS OF THEIR OWN?
Just start. Don’t be afraid of experimenting to find your style & voice in the beginning, and don’t be afraid of making changes as you go – your style & taste will naturally grow as you do. Write about what you love, not what you think other people will love. Keep going – it can feel like you’re talking to yourself for awhile, but comment on blogs you enjoy & participate in social media communities & you’ll find your tribe.
IF YOU COULD HAVE DINNER WITH ANY GUESTS OF YOUR CHOICE, WHO WOULD THEY BE + WHAT WOULD YOU EAT?
Oh gosh, it would be a big table then – I do love a gathering! Picking one right now, I’d say Grace Bonney of Design Sponge. I’m hugely inspired by what she’s created with DS, but since listening to her podcasts, After the Jump; even more so by her approach & attitude to work & life. Hmmm, what to eat…something by Jamie Oliver – his recipes always go down well at ours!
WOULD YOU RECOMMEND BLOGZILLA STUDIO? IF SO, WHY?
Absolutely & have done so! The themes & additional options are great, and you guys were helpful, patient, and got the job done, taking all my worries away. THANK YOU!
